ARMG Limits the Risk of Gadolinium Related NSF in PatientsNephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF) is a rare, multi-systemic disorder that predominantly affects the skin, but can affect other organs systems. The exact etiology of the disorder is unknown and no known cure exists. It has recently been associated with intravenous gadolinium contrast administration for contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) in patients with severe renal disease. ARMG has adopted new guidelines to limit the risk of this disorder.
